St. Louis Arch |
| Submitter's comments: |
The St.Louis Arch stands proudly against steely cold gray skies as rain soaked metal reflects efforts of an autumn sun to break through the clouds. Embracing a path to America's west, this magnificent structure is called the "Gateway to the West." Inside the top of the arch reads a plaque noting we are now at 630 ft. An underground theater shows the building of this architectural wonder.Constructed before OSHA standards, safety belts were not worn on the project, yet not one man was lost in its creation. Photo taken in late afternoon under stormy conditions. |
