My buddy |
|
| Could it be him? |
|
| John Warton's Comments: |
I appreciate the tight framing to eliminate the distractions that might have been possible. Your soft, diffused lighting is attractive and appropriate with the color accent on the left side. Why is he looking down? I would appreciate an explanation with the post. Thank you for taking the Photo Challenge.

My Grandaughter Teegan Rose |
|
| This picture was taken of my Grandaughter Teegan Rose Johnson. She is 5 months old. |

Your use of lighting is very good. I like the soft, diffused light to compliment the young complexion. Her expression looks like a grown up puzzled look. Like "Why are you taking my picture?" The picture appears to be focused sharpest on her hand. I would recommend shifting the lens so the eyes are the sharpest portion. Thank you for taking the Photo Challenge.

A close up of my cat's eye |
|
| Taken with a Nikon D3200 camera and 18-55mm lens |

| John Warton's Comments: |
I really like several elements of this picture. My first appreciation was the green and yellow contrast and detail. Your tight framing helps to eliminate distractions. The catchlight in the eye is interesting but I am still torn because the flash that causes the catchlight is also causing flat lighting too. Thank you for taking the Photo Challenge.

A day out at the lake |

| its one of my best |

| John Warton's Comments: |
The technical is excellent in this photograph. The sun placement in the sky and in the frame is excellent. You included plenty of depth of field to assure the majority of the picture was acceptably sharp. Your photograph is well worth showing off. Thank you for taking the great Photo Challenge.

Female "Ruby Throat Humming Bird" |
|
| I sat for quite a while trying to take a photo of these fast little birds. |
|
| John Warton's Comments: |
I appreciate the submission of this bird with the blurry background to avoid visual distractions. Judging by the blur, not just of the wings, but of the whole body, I would use a faster shutter speed. I also wish the hummingbird was in the brighter light and not in the shadows. Thank you for sharing your photo with the community.

Took Flight |

| As these waves came crashing in, these birds took flight |

I am glad you were able to capture the birds in the frame. This
makes something to show proportion and scale. Because dynamic (diagonal) lines
are some interesting, I might consider having more tilt to the horizon line. Please
make sure you follow the guidelines by submitting the largest dimension of the
photo at a maximum of 800 pixels. Thank you for sharing with the community.

The use of thirds is appropriate for this photograph. Judging
by the haze in the scene I would increase the contrast of the blacks to make
the picture appear sharper. Thank you for taking the time to share your properly
sized photo with the community.

Light Reflections |

| I saw this the day before Hurricane Sandy was to pass. |

You found a good subject to photograph. I only wish there
was something in the picture to show proportion like a boat or another element.
Then I would strongly consider having more tilt or leveling the horizon. As is
it seems that you might have been battling a case of vertigo when taking this
picture. Next time please submit your largest dimension at a maximum of 800
pixels. As always, thanks for sharing with the community.

| FATHER AND A DAUGHTER ENJOYING SUN SET AT SEA BEACH..... |
|
| John Warton's Comments: |
|
The setting is great and precious as we see the family
members enjoying the ocean. This bullseye composition does not create the most
interest possible. I would zoom in or move closer to fill the frame at least
twice as much. Then place the people in the bottom third of the picture. Next
time please submit your largest dimension at a maximum of 800 pixels. As
always, thanks for sharing with the community.

Baby Fox Just out of the den |
|
| Taken in Brighton Ontario. I knew where a fox den was located so I waited in my car for a few days and finally got this shot, using my car window to stabilize the camera, just as the baby fox came out of the den. |

This is a good photograph in several ways. There are color
contrasts of the orange and the green. I really like how the dark legs are seen
by the bright rocks. Your ability to stabilize on the car window helps make
sure the picture was crisp and sharp even with the long lens. Next time please
submit your largest dimension at a maximum of 800 pixels. As always, thanks for
sharing with the community.
