a bridge in SC
this is a bridge we went over in south carolina that i thought was really cool, it was hard to decide whether to chose this pic or the one from afar....very cool bridge
John Warton's Comments:
I love the tight angle with the leading lines of the cables.
The variety in the sky in color and texture also adds to the scene. Please make
sure you follow the rules and guidelines by submitting the largest dimension of
the photo at a maximum of 800 pixels. Thank you for sharing with the community.

Casa Loma
John Warton's Comments:
The tight crop puts good attention on the turret. The white
vignette helps to isolate the castle and puts the attention inward. I think
more attention could be drawn if the vignette was darker. Please make sure you
follow the rules and guidelines by writing some comments and submitting the
largest dimension of the photo at a maximum of 800 pixels.

The Locks
These locks sit on the Hume Dam on the border of New South Wales and Victoria. Australia
John Warton's Comments:
The sepia tone adds beauty and an aged, rustic look. I also
appreciate the blend of dark to brighter in the sky. Thanks for resizing the
picture appropriately and sharing with the community.

The "ROCK" is crumbling
This is a photo taken in SF Ca while on vacation and had taken a trip out in the bay to see the "The Rock". What a great place to take photos.
John Warton's Comments:
I enjoy the positioning of the two buildings in the shot. It
helps to include both in the shot and still hold a good composition. It could be better if
there was a blue sky to compliment the plain white sky. Make sure you submit
your largest dimension at a maximum of 800 pixels. Thank for your submission
and sharing with the community.

Our nation's Capitol
Actually took this picture with my iPhone. Was amazed how good it turned out. This is the back side of the capitol building in Washington DC with the grand staircase.
John Warton's Comments:
The exposure seems to be pretty good to capture the wide
dynamic range. The right portion of the dome is slightly over-exposed though.
The focus of the lens is on the tree in the foreground which makes the capital
soft in the distance. Make sure you submit your largest dimension at a maximum
of 800 pixels. Thank for your submission and sharing with the community.

Casa Felize
1933 Spanish style home designed by Gamble Rodgers was relocated in 2001 when original property was bought and the new owner was going to demolish the house. It is now a historic landmark
John Warton's Comments:
I like the natural framing of the branches and shadows. Notice
the bright middle section of the house. The exposure on the building looks
about one half stop to bright. Make sure you submit your largest dimension at a
maximum of 800 pixels. Thank for your submission and sharing with the

On The Square
This is an historic building on the square in downtown Huntsville, Al. It still has its original look when it was built. Comparing it to the modern street light with the shadow cast by the tree gives it that unique look.
John Warton's Comments:
I like the inclusion of the traffic lights and the tree to
give a sense of reality to the building. I would recommend dodging (selectively
brightening) the darker portion of the building to show more detail. Thank you
for sharing your comments and your properly sized photo with the community.

Blarney Castle, Ireland
John Warton's Comments:
The back lighting helps create a silhouette of the castle. I
believe it would be better if the light was more from the front. This would
allow for a more even lighting in between the sky and castle, and more depth in
the scene. Please make sure you follow the rules and guidelines by writing some
comments with your picture next time.

Charminar - Four Pillars
Recently i had been on a training to Hyderabad, India. I got a chance to visit Charminar. Lighting was lovely and i tried to get the moon into the shot. Its a historical monument built in 16th century. People of different castes and religion visit this place every year.
John Warton's Comments:
The colorful lighting of the castle increases the interest
in the scene. I wish the moon was bigger and not as hazy. You could try editing
a much larger moon in the upper left from a second, tighter shot. Thanks for
resizing the picture appropriately and sharing with the community.
