  Window PaneTreasure

An old miners cabin in Nevada. This photo reminds me of an old painting. I have if framed in 100 year old barn wood and the wood gives it such character.
John Warton's Comments:

The picture appears to look like a painting since it is soft in focus appearing to blur. I would darken the bush to make it less bright. Right now the attention goes to more of the bush and less of the building. Thank you for sharing your comments and your properly sized photo with the community.

  Solomans Castle

A Sculptor named Soloman, in 1973 built this Castle in Florida using all recycled material. The entire outside is covered with metal printing press plates. I thought this to be the most unusual architure that I had seen. The Castle is open for tours. Its well worth going to see.
John Warton's Comments:

The metal makes the exposure just a little bright. A polarizer filter might have helped with the glare and would also darken the skies to a rich blue color. Thank you for sharing your comments and your properly sized photo with the community.

  Bendigo Lookout

I took this photograph just on dark from the Bendigo Lookout in the gardens with the view of the cathedral.
John Warton's Comments:

The comparison of the cathedral and the lookout adds a dimension. The inclusion of the sunset helps to create a beautiful photograph. Next time please submit your largest dimension at a maximum of 800 pixels. As always, thanks for sharing with the community.

  My Great Grandpas House

this is a picture of my great gpas house that he grew up in. it is vacant now and has been for many years. the colors in the roof astonished me when i took this pic and hopefully it does the same for you. this house is located in Fayetteville arkansas off of some freeway.
John Warton's Comments:

The color in the bricks helps to keep interest. The scene has plenty of color. I would probably show more of the tree trunk or none at all. Thanks for resizing the picture appropriately and sharing with the community.

  Manhattan Bridge

This is a photo of the Manhattan Bridge from the Brooklyn side in the area known as DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Underpass).
John Warton's Comments:

The composition is good with the framing of the red apartment buildings. The fog in the distance also adds depth to the scene and puts more emphasis on the bridge. Please make sure you follow the rules and guidelines by submitting the largest dimension of the photo at a maximum of 800 pixels. Thank you for sharing with the community.

  Native American Ruins

I could not think of a better example of "architecture" than this ruin found at Bandalier National Park in New Mexico! Shot with my Canon XTi using 100ISO, 1/10s, F/22 and 35mm focal length during my trip to Santa Fe this past August.
John Warton's Comments:

The bright, direct lighting helps to show texture and depth in the scene. Thank you for sharing your camera settings and comments of your properly sized photo with the community.

  Jefferson Memorial

The jefferson memorial taken early in the spring.
John Warton's Comments:

I like the setting of the memorial with lots of interest by including the people. Your exposure and focus seem good too. You could try correcting the tilt of the sidewalk by cropping. Please make sure you follow the rules and guidelines by submitting the largest dimension of the photo at a maximum of 800 pixels. Thank you for sharing with the community.

  Inside a mall

I took this shot from inside a fruit storage warehouse converted into a mall. f/3.5, ISO 800, 18mm, 1/200sec with 0 compensation.
John Warton's Comments:

The symmetrical photograph has good balance. I enjoy the high overhead lighting. It helps to keep the interest in the middle of the scene. Your helpful photographic comments and proper resizing are appreciated on the Photo Challenge. Keep snapping and keep taking the challenge.

  Smoke Stack

This is the smoke stack of the thermal electric plant in Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada, taken with a 300mm telephoto lens with polarizer, like how it's silhouetted against the blue sky. Tony
John Warton's Comments:

The silhouette is different than all the rest of the pictures. I think a tighter crop would put more emphasis on the smoke stack. Thanks for resizing the picture appropriately and sharing with the community.

Architecture of old
John Warton's Comments:

The angle shows the remains of a building from the past. It appears to be slightly out of focus too. Thank for taking the time to share your photo with the community.
