Shining stars |

| A globe thistle on black with diffused sunlight coming through the window to the right which made the petals glow. |

The lighting is unique and intriguing. I like the definition of the edges. You might want to try cropping it much tighter to fill the frame and lessen the black space. Please make sure you follow the rules and guidelines by submitting the largest dimension of the photo at a maximum of 800 pixels. Thank you for sharing with the community. John Warton

The HDR effect on the colors is captivating. The vignette helps to draw the attention inward too. Thanks for resizing the picture appropriately and sharing with the community.

Lay a Line |
|
| With the ladder truck in the background, a firefighter lays a 2 1/2" hose line with a 300 gpm nozzle for structure protection. With a tripod and flash set to multiple flashes |
|
| John Warton's Comments: |
The multiple flash creates a double exposure which I have not seen much in digital photography. It would be nice if the fire trucks were not quite as bright in the background. Next time please submit the picture with the largest dimension at 800 pixels or less. This helps reduce bandwidth and precious downloading time. Thanks for taking the Photo Challenge.

DAY'S END LIGHTING THE WAY |
|
| Taken while sailing out of portland area. All around was dark yet the light seem brightest in this one area. |

| John Warton's Comments: |
The fog on the surface of the water and the low position of the sun create a good mood. Your composition could be improved by placing the horizon either on the top or bottom third of the picture. Placing the horizon line on the middle divides the interest and reduces the impact on the viewer. Thank you for sharing your comments and your properly sized photo with the community.

The Disney Castle |

| The Disney castle at night !Makes for the perfect lighting effects. |
|
| John Warton's Comments: |
The low light contrast against the night sky creates a beautiful picture. Try using a vertical camera position to use the space better in the composition. Please submit your picture next time with the largest dimension at 800 pixels. Thank you for competing with the Photo Challenge.

A girl hula hooping overlayed with nightglow necklace sticks in the dark being spun around. |
|
| I took a composit black and white shot of a neighborhood girl hoola hooping and combined it with a pitch black out shot of night glow necklace glow in the dark rainbow strands swigning around in the air in the reflection of a three way mirror. I thought the effect was cool. |
|
| John Warton's Comments: |
The effect is excellent because it uses the hula hoop in the original photograph. Keep experimenting with digital techniques. Thanks for resizing the picture appropriately and sharing with the community.

Reflections |
|
| This is photo taken at Lurray Caverns. The top half is the cavern ceiling and the lower half is the reflection in a 1/2" deep pool of water. |
|
| John Warton's Comments: |
I like the reflection of the cave. It gives a sense of peace and rest. The exposure looks a little too bright. Try toning down the highlights during the initial capture. Thanks for resizing the picture appropriately and sharing with the community.
